Brief

To create a usable courtyard space and garden beds on a small sloping back garden with difficult access.

Solution

As machine access wasn’t possible we limited earth moving and built level garden beds with the placing of circular colorbond planters cut into the site. A series of Merbau timber steps wind down between the planters from the new paved courtyard. We opened up access from an existing narrow deck with a single step down to a Castlemaine slate paved courtyard including dismantling and rebuilding a timber screen to maintain privacy.
