Brief

To bring to life an existing back garden pool space and maximise garden views and privacy from the master en-suite.

Solution

We divided the space into three distinct areas: the pool & paving, the upper level of the native garden & pathway and the private parents retreat.

The rendered retaining wall and timber seats divided the pool space and garden. We built timber steps up from the pool area to a meandering gravel pathway which leads you through to the garden to the parents retreat which is viewed from the master ensuite. Gabion cages filled with Castlemaine Slate walling stone double up as informal seating and retain the different levels.

The character house is unique and eclectic, so we repeated the Castlemaine slate paving (previously used in the front garden) around the pool and continued the rustic theme of dressed Cypress timber posts with custom-made mild steel flat bar paling fences for maximum views to the native garden and Corten laser-cut privacy panels (from Entanglements) to maintain privacy in the master en-suite and retreat garden.
